Privacy Policy
This page explains what information Cape Cod Bridge collects when you visit our website or sign up for the weekly email. We try to keep it short and clear.
What we collect
When you subscribe to the weekly email, we ask for your email address. We don’t ask for your name. You can stay anonymous if you want.
When you visit any page on the site, we collect some basic information automatically:
- The pages you look at
- How you got to the site (a search engine, a social media post, a direct link)
- The kind of browser and device you are using
- A general idea of your location based on your internet provider’s region (we never collect a precise address)
- The day and time of your visit
This is the same kind of information almost every website collects. We use Google Analytics 4 and the Meta Pixel to gather it.
How we use it
We use your email address to send you the weekly Bridge Brief. We may also send you traffic alerts during construction if you opt in.
We use the visit data to:
- See which articles people read most
- Understand where readers come from
- Decide what to write next
- Show our reach to potential sponsors and advertisers, always as totals, never as individual readers
Who we share with
We share data with these companies because we use their tools:
- GoHighLevel holds the email list and sends the newsletter.
- Google Analytics records anonymous visit data.
- Meta (Facebook) records anonymous visit data through the Pixel.
- WordPress runs the website itself.
We do not sell your email or any other personal information. We do not allow advertisers to access your data. We do not give law enforcement access unless legally required.
Cookies
Our website uses small text files (cookies) to remember things between visits. Some are required for the site to work. Others are used by Google Analytics and Meta Pixel to track visits.
Most browsers let you block cookies. If you do, parts of the site may not work right.
Your rights
You can:
- Unsubscribe from emails anytime by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any email we send.
- Ask us what data we have about you.
- Ask us to delete your data.
To do any of these, email editor@capecodbridge.com.
If you live in California, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) gives you these rights by law.
If you live in the European Union or the United Kingdom, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) gives you similar rights.
Children
This site is not for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13.
How long we keep things
- Email addresses: until you unsubscribe, plus a short archive period
- Visit data: as long as Google and Meta keep it (typically 14 to 26 months)
- Form submissions: indefinitely, in case we need to look back
Updates
If we change this policy, we will post the new version on this page with the date. If the changes are big, we will mention them in the weekly email.
